How Our Design and Price Process Works
A Brief Overview
It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to custom 'build' a professional quality classical tutu depending on the style and embellishments. We select quality fabrics, laces, and embellishments in order for the costume to withstand many years of rough handling backstage during performances. We believe your custom creation should fit well and give you the extra confidence needed to dance beautifully on stage!
The first step is to contact us via phone or email and together we can thoroughly discuss your needs, as a dancer, as well as the probable costs, and realistic time frame. From our initial conversation a formal Purchase Agreement will be submitted to you for approval. You will be asked to review, sign, and request any modifications based on budget constraints. Please note the final price does not include shipping costs. In order to be placed on the workroom schedule, clients must first complete these three items:
1. Sign the Purchase Agreement.
2. Submit your measurement chart.
3. Place a deposit on your custom order.
Once the deposit and the above requirements have been met, your order will be placed into the workroom schedule and our design process will begin! You, the client, will then receive a Design Packet by mail which will include: a sketch, fabric swatches, color options, trim options, and net colors to approve. After the Design Packet has been approved, your costume will be patterned and cut. At that time we will notify you when to expect your completed costume. Our classic 10 layer tutus take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete which begins at the start of patterning & cutting, not design or initial consultation. Please note we do not stack up our custom orders with high volume. Instead, we choose to offer a selective service in order to manage the flow and volume to produce the best quality costume for you within the 4-6 week window. Please note our spaces for custom orders are limited and once we are booked for the season we cannot take on more orders. Pre-professional students, we highly recommend placing your deposit early if you know your competition dates for the upcoming season but do not know which variation yet.
A plain, unadorned bodice, and a 9-10 layer classical tutu with a straight cut edge start at $600. Premium fabrics and embellishments are available at an additional cost.
